High Plains Bioenergy produces biogas from the Seaboard Foods' waste water system, which is then scrubbed to pipeline quality using a pressure swing adsorption system and delivered to the interstate pipeline network to be used by the public as a renewable energy source. Biogas is generated by breaking down organic matter from components in the wastewater from the plant in an oxygen free environment; this process is called anaerobic digestion. Supporting the use of biogas in the facility aligns with High Plains Bioenergy's focus on multiple forms of alternative and renewable energy and supports Seaboard Foods' environmental and sustainability commitments.
